General Program Comments
Aria Health Family Medicine /Emergency Medicine Program is a unique program that prepares todays residents to practice for the future of medicine. Given that the majority of patients seen in the Emergency Department are ambulatory in nature, the FM component prepares the FMEM resident to take care of those patient presentations in a cost effective and patient care effective approach to their healthcare. The EM component prepares the FMEM resident to handle all urgencies, emergencies and life threats. Additionally, this program prepares the resident for a variety of professional opportunities, whether they be in an office, Emergency Department, Urgent Care facility or as a hospitalist. Additionally, the FMEM resident is prepared to practice in a variety of geographic locations. Whether urban, suburban or rural medicine, the FMEM resident is prepared with their training, experience, rotation opportunities (including our Country and select out of Country) locations. At Aria Health, academic excellence is combined with the hospital’s mission to provide comprehensive and accessible health care to the communities of Philadelphia and Bucks County. It is the diversity within the Aria Health System campus and rotation locations that creates an atmosphere of enhanced educational and clinical opportunities, while affording the development of individual interests. Aria Health has available all the resources within this system, ensuring academic excellence. In addition, the combined program maintains close ties with the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, allowing access to university classes, faculty and facilities. Situated among the academic centers of Philadelphia, the residents have the opportunity to work with renowned faculty at Centers of Excellence such as the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Wills Eye Hospital, Cooper Hospital University Medical Center, Temple University Hospital, Maryland Shock and Trauma and St. Mary Medical Center. Through Aria Health's unique three campus system and affiliates, residents have the opportunity to experience all aspects of the medical community. Our residents join us from many different areas of our Country as the diversity of the Aria Health FMEM resident clinical experience prepares the residents for dual careers in all areas of Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine.
