Call Schedule Additional Information:

We are following the more stricter ACGME duty hours for the length of shift restrictions.A All of our residents have at most a 12 hour shift. Our coverage for nights on academic medicine and units is now covered by each intern doing one week (Sunday through Thursday) of nights when they are these two rotations. For those rotations with cross covering the shifts are two weekends with 12 hour shifts and two weekends free. This allows the rotations to be free of mid-week call and post call and missing a lot of our rotations and exposure to those specialty rotations.

General Program Comments
Western Michigan University School of Medicine (WMed) (formerly MSU/KCMS) is sponsored by MSUCOM and therefore we are listed as MSUCOM/WMU School of medicine. We are committed to providing the best education and learning opportunities and we are very excited to have a new medical school and all the technology and resources that come with that to be available to our residents. We are a dually accredited program with 30 total IM residents filling every year through the two matchs. Our program has weekly block educational conferences instead of noon lectures and monthly two hour OMM sessions with hands on experience. We are apart of the MSU Statewide Campus System and our residents participate in their monthly lectures and procedural workshops along with the other internal medicine residents within the state. There is a Women's Health Track with additional certificate available. We fill four spots each year with Osteopathic IM residents through the Osteopathic Match and are not able to take DO applicants through the ACGME match.
