Additional Application Information:

COMLEX 2 scores are desirable but not required. Favorable performance on a prior rotation at Garden City Hospital on the Orthopedic Surgery service is a strong factor in selection for interviews. Applications from students who have not rotated are reviewed. An interview date has not yet been set but has taken place in October in years past. Applicants selected for interviews will be contacted through the ERAS system. Successful completion of COMLEX 2 CE and PE is preferred prior to the Match and required to begin the OGME1 year. Interviews are typically conducted in October. Students interested in seeking a rotation at Garden City Hospital should contact our Student Coordinator, Susan Patterson. For more information about setting up a rotation, visit our website at http://www.gchmeded.org/?id=30&sid=1

General Program Comments
ABOUT GARDEN CITY HOSPITAL: Garden City Hospital is a 323 bed community hospital in Garden City, Michigan, a suburban community with easy access to affordable housing, recreation, shopping, entertainment and transportation. Garden City Hospital is part of the Statewide Campus System of Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Founded by osteopathic physicians in 1947, Garden City Hospital has been a leading site for internship and residency training since 1952. We have come a long way since that first class of two interns, with more than 1,200 physicians receiving postdoctoral training here. Garden City Hospital currently offers core and elective externship rotations, traditional and linked internships, and residencies and fellowships in twelve specialty areas. In 2014, GCH joined the award-winning Prime Healthcare network of over 30 hospitals. WHY CHOOSE GARDEN CITY HOSPITAL? Osteopathic medical education is a time-honored tradition here. We are committed to providing an excellent clinical and academic experience, and will strive for continuous improvement. Our Medical Education Center provides meeting space, audiovisual support, computer learning lab and library facilities steps away from the House Staff call rooms and Medical Education offices. With the number and scope of patients who are treated here, Garden City Hospital offers ample opportunity for house staff to be real participants in patient care. This hands-on education is complemented by daily scheduled conferences and supported by exceptional program directors and faculty. GCH offers a variety of lectures, including Tumor Board, Journal Clubs, and Grand Rounds, as well as case reviews and morning reports. Last but not least, you will find Garden City Hospital to be an exceptionally friendly environment and a great place to work. There is a genuine family atmosphere among the employees, medical staff and administration. We believe this makes the challenges of these years in training more manageable and optimizes the learning experience. ACGME ACCREDITATION Garden City Hospital is actively pursuing ACGME accreditation for the majority of its programs as the transition to the single accreditation system moves forward. Our institution, as well as our Internal Medicine, Neurology, and Cardiology programs, have achieved initial accreditation with the ACGME thus far.
